I was born and raised in a small community in south-east Los Angeles. My parents immigrated to California from Mexico in the 1970's. They raised My younger siblings and I with the mentality that hard work and an education is the key to getting ahead. I received good grades in school and participated in extracurricular activities; joining leadership and organizing school events.
I attended East Los Angeles College where I worked on my general education and studied art. Later I transferred on to Trade Technical College where I completed the Fashion program. I was fortunate to intern at one of the local leading manufacturer for girls and juniors clothing as a design room assistant, learning the ins and outs of working in the design room. After graduating I worked for a trim company as an assistant. I received a better understanding of working with overseas companies and all the work and time that goes into developing a product from start to finish. I moved on to work for a children's manufacturer as a graphic artist. There I was able to flourish my skills by learning from other talented artist and of course lots of practice. Over the last 10+ years I've worked for several leading manufacturers in the Los Angeles area mostly in the girls-tween and women's juniors category. In recent years I've started working on my own as a freelance artist.
I'm now currently back at school, working towards my digital media degree for front end web and app design with an emphasis on user interface. It's been a challenge working and attending school at the same time but I enjoy learning new applications. I'm excited about the future and where my new skills will take me.
